We have some SUPER fun news to share today! Peace Love Wax is featured in a brand new CRAVE ebook about flipping lives and perspectives. A few months ago our Owner, Lisa Sample, shared the story of successfully reinventing our business and they chose to include it in the book, alongside just 40 other business women globally! (How cool is that??) This is especially exciting news for Peace Love Wax, as The CRAVE Company is a huge supporter of female owned businesses and promoting local businesses. And now WE want to continue to support women in business by sharing this book, Flipped-It! Inspiring Stories of Successful Reinvention. You can purchase the ebook and read all the amazing stories here by clicking here. ( Psssst, use the coupon code FLIPPINGIT2013 to save $5.00!) We greatly appreciate your support and so will all the women in this book! (Spoiler Alert: Our 3 page spread starts on Page 73!) This is the very first publication our business has been featured in, and we feel so honored to have even been interviewed, let alone chosen! * * SPECIAL THANKS TO KELLY OF BLACKALL PHOTOGRAPHY FOR SHOOTING OUR PHOTOS FEATURED IN THIS PUBLICATION. * *
So, you’re tired of that AWKWARD little tip line on your receipt??
Here’s the deal, tipping can sometimes be an awkward situation, ESPECIALLY when someone is standing right over you with those glaring eyes that just scream “Really? That’s all you’re going to leave me?!” Here at Peace. Love. Wax. that whole scenario is something you just won’t have to deal with! Our No-Tipping Policy is in place for several reasons, and we just know that once you hear them…You’ll never want it any other way! - You are guaranteed flat-fee pricing. Every Time. This makes it super easy for you to budget your monthly wax! And, it’s just one more bonus for that significant other worried about costs...not to mention the obvious wonders of waxing ;)
- Why SHOULD you tip on a service like this? It’s one of those appointments “you love to hate and hate to love” and it’s a maintenance thing. Save that tip and go splurge on those cute sandals you've been eyeing!!
- Because not a single employee of ours works for tips (And because we hire only the best to represent our team), you can be sure that the quality of your service(s) will never be gauged on your financial ability, or lack thereof. You will, if not already accustomed to, come to expect only genuine care and concern for the quality of our services and our wonderful clients!
- While you will never experience this here, we've seen Estheticians elsewhere who will intentionally do a *less than acceptable* job on a service to discourage a certain “Bad-Tipper” from booking with them again; Not only is this unheard of here, but we value our employees more than to attempt them to resort to this. We offer better pay, a great working environment, and flexibility that shows we care about our employees!
So, now that we’ve laid it all out on the line, hopefully some of you won’t feel so obligated to tip us because honestly, it’s just so much easier our way! We cut down your spending, completely omit any negative side effects from the issue on our end, and most importantly you’ll never get that awkward glare of money-lust. Tell us, have you ever had an embarrassing situation involving tips or tipping etiquette that you’re still scarred from? Have any addition questions, comments, or suggestions? Let me know; Miranda@peacelovewax.com or comment below. Until next time....

It's hard to believe, but we've been at the new location for almost 2 full weeks already! We're really pleased with how everything has turned out and so far, clients seem to love the location and added availability. We've also added a feature to schedulicity (our online booking software) which allows you to make same-day appointments! We're still waiting on them to come out with an update which will allow clients to select more than one service at a time. If you're trying to book several services currently, you'll need to go completely through the system for each service. {It may be much easier if you give us a call: 214.516.4288 -or- email info@peacelovewax.com so we can help you schedule!} Please note, immediately after booking, you should receive an email confirmation. The night before your appointment you will receive a reminder email as well. If you're ever in doubt, just give us a call and we can confirm or schedule you as well. Now that we're pretty settled into the new space, this blog can go back to ALL THINGS WAX and less about our construction! If you have any questions you'd like us to delve into on the blog, shoot us an email with "blog question" in the subject line!
Last weekend, the good people at Sign-a-Rama came out and installed our lovely LED sign! We absolutely love it! On February 25, 2013, we will be RIGHT HERE above Rockfish. Our new address will be on the website starting this Saturday evening. Be on the lookout! We've got a lot to do in the next 4 days before we *officially* open our doors, but luckily I work better under pressure. Can't wait for you all to see it!!
 Before|After Kitchenette Area I can't believe that we have just 17 days until we *officially* open the new space! It's really feeling like crunch time now! We got the approval on our sign, so that's been ordered and we really can't wait for it to go up! It's definitely surreal seeing a markup of our business name on the side of the building. I feel like I keep pinching myself and thinking "IS THIS REAL LIFE?". And thanks to all of our wonderful clients...it is! We wouldn't even be considering moving to a new space if it wasn't for you guys ~ we really can't thank you enough for your support in this transition and for spreading the word about us for the last 20 months when we FIRST opened our door! {Doesn't it seem like just yesterday?} Anyway, just wanted to share a few pics of the progress. These photos are a few days old, but I havn't had much free time to visit the space this week. Reception Area|Hallway: A preview of the new doors, new flooring and front desk counter
It's so hard to believe that we will be in our brand new space in just ONE MONTH from today!! {Monday, February 25th, 2013!}
I stopped by the future home of Peace.Love.Wax. today and was so impressed by the contractor's work thus far. They are really working fast! It's amazing what a little bit of paint can do, that's for sure. :) I loved the set up of the space from the beginning, but the interior was a little rough. Imagine blue carpet, harsh white walls, burgudy and blue counters... and oh, how the list continues! There is still a long way to go, but seeing the progress makes me that much more excited for the finished result. Can't wait for you all to see it too!
Clients have been so supportive and excited about our upcoming expansion- which makes us feel all warm and fuzzy inside!! I just wanted to take a moment to answer some of the questions we've heard frequently so we can avoid some confusion. If your questions aren't answered here, feel free to send us an email: info@peacelovewax.com or ask Julie or myself while in for your next appointment. What will your new name be? We will still be PEACE LOVE WAX of course! We don't want to totally throw everyone for a loop and change our address along with everything else, after all, our name seems to be working thus far. ;) Will our prices or no tipping policy change? NOPE! We'll still have the affordable pricing you've come to know and love, a no tipping policy and we're even keeping up with our twice yearly Brazilian Sale. Will you be offering additional services like facials/massages/hair services? Again...Nope! We love our waxing-only concept and it seems like our clients do too! We happen to like specializing in hair removal, so we're keeping that our focus. :) How will I know when Peace Love Wax *OFFICIALLY* moves to the new location? We will definitely without a doubt be at the new location starting Monday, February 25, 2013. There is a slight chance we could move earlier, but if we do, we PROMISE we will let you know via your appointment's email confirmation, a phonecall the day before your appointment, a facebook and twitter announcement, an email blast/newsletter, the updated address on our website and basically everything just short of shouting it from the rooftops. In a nutshell: We promise not to let you go to the wrong location!
 Lisa at the new PLW site! Some of you may have heard that we'll be moving to a NEW storefront location in 2013... and this is... TRUE! But not far, promise! We're still going to be at the Preston/Park Intersection in Plano, but we're moving from the Southwest corner to the Northeast corner! What does this mean for our clients? Lots of great things! Julie and I can both work more days|hours since we'll no longer have to share one space! This means clients will essentially have double the availability to get in. When the time comes, we'll also have the space to grow as needed! I'm particularly excited about bringing on support staff which will help us be more efficient in checking you in and out, as well as answering phones, emails and texts in a more timely manner. Keep in mind though, we are still a small, locally owned business and will stay that way! We love what we do and will continue to be dedicated to our clients and providing the best waxing around!
As far as a timeline goes, we hope to be in the new space by March 1, 2013 but it could definitely be sooner. I don't want to put our new address out there just yet, so as not to confuse anyone, but I'll be sharing it very very soon! {If the suspense is killing you, please email Julie or myself and we will share it with you directly!} Through this blog, I'll be sharing sneak peeks of the new interior as it's coming together. :)
I'm so thrilled about all the exciting things 2013 has in store! I want to thank each and every one of you for your support and for choosing Peace Love Wax!
Clients often want to know what the "rules" are with bringing their little one(s) with to their appointment. Well - quite frankly - there aren't any! I can't tell you how many clients call to reschedule their appointment because the sitter or nanny fell through. This is NOT NECESSARY (most times!) The most important thing to consider is age. Here's why:
Is your child old enough to stay seated throughout the duration of your appointment on the bench/seating area within the confines of the waxing room? If so - great! You can always bring a toy / book / tech-y gadget to keep them preoccupied. My main concern with mobile-aged children is that for safety reasons they must stay away from the hot wax and sharp metal instruments.
Some clients express concern about their older child (aged 6-10) watching them get waxed. (I'm talking about bikini area waxing.) In my experience, most kids aren't especially interested in trying to figure out what's going on. Also - I try to be as discreet as humanly possible - the way my suite is set up it's fairly easy for me to basically stand between where a guest would be seated and where the client would be laying. If your child is extra curious, you have two options: a.) tell them the truth about what you're doing, or b.) come up with some clever alternative. {Trust me, I've heard some pretty good well-intentioned untruths that seem to work wonders in making the process unentertaining!} That being said: YOU know your child best, so I suggest doing what you feel most comfortable with.
For toddlers and infants you're more then welcome to bring your stroller. Also, keep in mind that I have a restaurant style high chair available for your convenience. Your little one can be safely strapped in and be seated right near you for the duration of your service. (I've found this to be especially helpful for tots who like to stay close to momma!) or the seat can be flipped upside down to hold infant carriers/car seats. This works wonderfully because if baby needs a bottle or pacifier, they're easily within reach at all times. Worried about bringing a fussy baby? DON'T BE! My clientele is generally all women. Well...about 99% anyway! That means I see lots of moms and I can assure you that your baby won't be the first--or last--to get a little fussy during an appointment. My goal is to best accommodate YOU! If this means we totally rearrange my suite or that you hold/console/feed your child during your whole appointment, it CAN (and certainly has!) been done. Sometimes I have to get inventive to get the job done but I'm up for the challenge! I hope to continuously evolve to meet the needs of my clients. Even busy moms have to find time in their schedule to get waxed, so I say... go for it!
